John Elliott, MD

Chief Medical Officer

A physician executive who spent his career building the organizations that deliver care — founding specialty practices, leading them through merger, and carrying the clinical authority to back it up.

Decades of building physician organizations, not just working in them.

Dr. John Elliott has spent his career on both sides of the table — delivering care, and building the organizations that deliver it. That is rare, and it is why physicians tend to listen when he moves the conversation from medicine to business.

He was a founder and physician leader at Phoenix Perinatal Associates, part of building the specialty group that merged with Neonatal Specialists in 2002 to form Obstetrix Medical Group of Phoenix, later administered and managed by Pediatrix Medical Group. He then co-founded Valley Perinatal Services (VPS) — recruiting the physicians, structuring the organization, and carrying the financial risk himself — and spent four of those years as its medical director. VPS grew to become Arizona’s leading maternal-fetal practice.

In 2018 he became Chief Medical Officer of Mitro Health Ventures, bringing decades of physician-practice experience into executive-level healthcare decisions.

He built a national reputation in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, lecturing at conferences here and abroad and publishing research that changed how high-risk obstetric patients are managed. He became especially known for high-order multiple pregnancies — triplets, quadruplets, and quintuplets — carrying them closer to term than anyone else in the field. He served a three-year term on the board of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Woodward and White named him to Best Doctors in America for fifteen consecutive years and America’s Top Doctors for twelve; US News and World Report placed him among the top one percent of perinatologists nationally.

Combining clinical excellence with business acumen, Dr. Elliott brings Practice Now a depth of expertise few advisors can match. He knows what it costs to build a physician organization, what a merger actually does to one, and where clinical priorities and business realities pull against each other — because he has lived all three. He puts that to work helping physicians build practices that are stronger, more scalable, and built to last.
